Dear advertiser: this guide is designed to help you produce a print advertisement for Arena Magazine.

Design Spec

• Our magazine is printed on 9.5” x 12" pages and perfect bound. There are 96 interior pages, plus two inside cover pages.

• 9.5” x 12” is an unusual magazine size, and the vast majority of ad files we receive are not the correct size, which can delay production. So please read the following specifications very carefully.

  • The magazine is 9.5” x 12”. It is not 9x12, nor is it 9.5x11, nor 8.5x11, nor any other size.

  ONE PAGE ADS:

  • If the base color (or the entire perimeter) of your ad is white, your full advertisement should be exactly 9.5” x 12”
  • If the base color (or perimeter) of your ad is anything but white, your file must have a 0.2" additional bleed on all sides. That means the one-page advertisement with full bleed will be 9.9” x 12.4”
  • This bleed will be trimmed during printing, but it helps us make sure that color extends properly to the edge of the page.

  TWO PAGE ADS:

  • If the base color (or the entire perimeter) of your ad is white, your full advertisement should be exactly 19**” x 12” to fit across two pages**
  • If the base color (or perimeter) of your ad is anything but white, your file must have a 0.2" additional bleed on all sides. That means the two-page advertisement with full bleed will be 19.4” x 12.4”
  • This bleed will be trimmed during printing, but it helps us make sure that color extends properly to the edge of the page.

• Please have your designer double check the advertisement’s final size to make sure it conforms to the above points.

• Please work in CMYK color otherwise conversions may have minor differences.

• The magazine is printed on 80 lb gloss text paper, which is quite opaque, meaning you are fine to use very dark colors, including a rich black (please let us know about rich black requiring two ink layers, though, if you are not sure how to properly color that)

We accept either a raw Figma or InDesign file, or even better: a PDF that is exactly correct 🙂
